VICE PRESIDENT FOR FINANCE AND BUSINESS
This is a full-time position that reports to the
President and is located on the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois. The position is open until filled
with an expected start date no later than July 1, 2012.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the
President of John Wood Community College, the Vice President for Finance and Business is the chief
fiscal officer of the college district and part of the leadership team of the college.

Comprehensive understanding of finance and business affairs for an educational institution

History of collaborative and collegial work experience
* Success in working effectively with a
professional team
* Knowledge of and experience with budget planning, budget preparation and
fiscal management
* Understanding of trends, issues, and challenges of a comprehensive community
college
* Demonstrated commitment to the mission and philosophy of the community college
*
Experience in collective bargaining
* Skills in analytical problem solving
* Excellent
written and oral communication skills
* Strong customer service skills
* Knowledge of
security and safety regulations with ability to direct a comprehensive risk management program that
includes safety and disaster recovery plans to minimize risk exposure to the organization

Ability to formulate business policies, develop operating procedures, establish accounting and
reporting methods and coordinate day-to-day business operations
* Ability to formulate policies
and procedures for the collection, custody, investment, disbursement and accounting of all monies of
the college district
* Ability to formulate policies and procedures for the management of the
physical plant including custodial care, sanitation, security, construction, building renovations,
functional maintenance plans and insurance protection
* Ability to develop and approve policies
and procedures for the procurement of goods and non-personnel services, including pre-auditing of
acquisitions or rentals, and provision warehousing, distribution, control and disposition
QUALIFICATIONS
* Five years of progressively responsible experience in leadership
positions, preferably managing finances within a large organization and/or in higher education
*
Strong managerial skills
* MBA, CPA, or master degree in a business discipline
* Successful
supervisory experience
* Knowledge of budget development and financial analysis
SALARY
Salary range begins at $95,000, depending on qualifications
